Brigitte Potter-Mael’s work involves printmaking, papermaking and mixed-media. Through her artistry, Brigitte has been on a winding quest to find her core in ‘human-nature relation’. In 2006, in Lanzara/Italy, she foraged 29 leaves from an old oak tree, which inspired her creation of an Oakleaf Alphabet. Honoring the oak-tree’s offering, she first called it an oak-trees’ alphabet. Delving into inner beauty, she carves and prints her translations of excerpts from German 18th century Early Romantic poet philosophers Hoelderlin, Novalis, Schiller, and uses her alphabet as a ‘concrete carrier of meaning’ to instil pertinent questions about ‘human-nature relation' within contemporary art.
