Although not formally trained in fine art, her early exposure to creativity within her family and mentorship from a childhood art teacher nurtured her path toward becoming an artist.
Samira’s journey has been shaped by her experiences of place. Living in Goa and a transformative trip to New York City inspired her to pursue art full-time, and since then she has developed a distinctive voice rooted in both design and nature. Her mixed-media works combine acrylics, pastels, thread, and other materials to create layered surfaces that balance geometry with organic detail.
Her work has been shown in juried group exhibitions, design fairs, and public art spaces across Vancouver, with recent highlights including Barrister’s Louse in the Vancouver Courthouse Gallery, Vancouver Civic Theatres, Federation Gallery shows, and selection into the Vancouver Art Gallery’s Art Rental & Sales program. In 2025, she received the National Emerging Artist Award at the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair, a recognition that underscored her growing presence in the Canadian contemporary art scene. Her art has also been featured in publications such as Society Interiors Magazine, Vancouver Guardian, and Art Seen.
Samira’s practice is guided by curiosity and care for the world around her. She often experiments with layering as a way to slow down, notice details, and stay connected to her surroundings. For her, painting is not only about building compositions, but also about creating a space for reflection—where structure meets design, and where people can rediscover a sense of wonder in nature.
