Talking Art is a curated series of artist talks and conversations held in advance of the Eastside Culture Crawl festival. The Talking Art program take place virtually, with each artist talk being presented online and hosted by a moderator. This program will further provide an opportunity for artists to expose their work and ideas to the public and for the public to get a more intimate opportunity to see work in a variety of media by artists in their communities.

Join us for an insightful panel “Collaboration, Craft, and the Art of Cross-Disciplinary Creation” that highlights the artistic journeys of several innovative artists located in the Eastside Arts District. Paper artist Tara Lee Bennett will share insights from her collaboration with printmaker Kari Kristensen, showcasing how Bennett’s intricate paper forms beautifully complement Kristensen’s vibrant prints, redefining the boundaries of their practices. Hope Forstenzer will delve into her recent exploration of woodworking in order to create combined glass and wood sculptural pieces; sharing the exciting experience of starting from scratch with a new medium. Finally, Tristesse Seeliger will discuss their summer 2024 residency at AZ West in Joshua Tree, where they created hand-woven surfaces that serve as canvases for their latest paintings, merging weaving with painting. Together, these artists will engage in a discussion on how collaboration and experimentation with new mediums inspires innovation.
