Shelly Smee is a multimedia artist in glass, metal and textiles.  Her hand crafted (flameworked) glass beads are incorporated into items of adornment utilizing semi-precious stone beads, sterling silver and beads from cultures from around the world. Shelly has travelled far and wide, and has been obsessed with anything shiny since childhood. In the early 90's she was introduced to many forms of glass through her employment at Studio One Glass Art, architectural glass artist - Yves Trudeau.  Shelly became obsessed with glass fusing, creating many many table top items and stained glass pieces and joined the "BC Glass Art Association". (insert business career not art here) Fast Forward 20 years to 2013, Shelly became a member of Terminal City Glass Cooperative, has evolved into an avid bead maker and exlpores sculptural torchwork in soft glass.  It has always been her dream and intention to open a Studio where she could immerse herself in a multimedia practice that includes Glass Fusing, Bead Making, Fabricating Jewellery, Upcycling Furniture and Lighting, and re-purposing Textiles. With the opening of Sunfire Studios Inc., Shelly has realized her dream of a creating a safe and inclusive space for exploration, production and commerce.  Semi-retired from a 30 year Real Estate career, she is excited to dedicate the rest of her life to Community and Art!
