Junko Takashima is a fibre and textile artist and has always loved working with fibre – a slender, elongated natural or synthetic filament. These can be everything from wool, cotton, linen, tubes, paper, fishing lines, gold, silver, metal wire etc..

She tend to work with more natural fibre such as wool, cotton, linen, silk recently, because she is interested in traditional and sustainable weaving practices. She spins her work from scratch and she reuse old pieces of fabric and used yarn which she creates arts and crafts for daily uses.

She was born and educated in Japan and moved to Canada in 2002. She has had shows of her work in Canada and Japan, and currently have studio practice in Vancouver.
