Treasuring the unique fabrics of vintage kimonos and the timeless beauty of Chinese poetry, Judith creates acrylic paintings that weave together fabric and calligraphy at Portside Studio in Vancouver, Canada.
Trained at Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo and later working as a fashion designer in Hong Kong and Canada, she brings a deep knowledge of textiles to her art. She also holds a BA in Japanese and Psychology from the University of British Columbia.
From the admiration of vintage kimono fabrics and calligraphic texts to the images that emerge on the canvas, each piece tells a story. Viewers are invited to experience a journey through layered textures, flowing script, and evocative imagery—all echoing the tranquil spirit of Asian cultures and the beauty of nature.
