As part of ECCS’s programming, we are mounting a multi-venue, salon-style curated exhibition titled “Displacement.” Our industrial lands are under enormous pressure from development. In the past couple of years, the Eastside Culture Crawl Society (ECCS) became aware of numerous artist production spaces facing doubling of rents and/or eviction. We are in a crisis as a community and are looking at various ways to address this pressing issue.
Open to all visual artists from Metro Vancouver who have been evicted, are currently being evicted, or have found ways to survive displacement. The submitting artist does not have to be registered with the Crawl
"Moving Art" is the Eastside Culture Crawl’s sixth annual curated projection of film and video. The projection will occur during the 2019 Eastside Culture Crawl, November 14 to 17, 2019. Submissions are open to film and video artists. Each year the theme is determined based on the films submitted. Because of this we encourage artists to submit each year.
“Talking Art” is a curated series of up to 10 artist talks and conversations that will be held in advance of this year’s Culture Crawl, from November 4-10, 2019. We envision several evenings of intimate and entertaining talks by artists, designers, and craftspeople. This program will further provide an opportunity for artists to expose their work and ideas to the public in a studio setting and for the public to get a more intimate opportunity to see work in a variety of media by artists in their communities. We are seeking submissions for artist talks that could illustrate an interesting project you are developing such as a public art proposal, a new series, collaborations, and/or projects outside your studio.
Submissions are open to all artists registered for the 2019 Culture Crawl. (Please note: your studio must be able to accomodate a minumum of 10 seated attendees to be considered. Artists must provide their own chairs).
