About the artistTanis Saxby is represented in London, England by the well respected Belgravia Gallery and presently ships and sells her work internationally from her studio. Tanis works mainly in porcelain and black marble and has just under 20 years experience as a sculptor in Vancouver. She works with architects from the conception of buildings to create sculptures that visually harmonize with the interiors and exteriors of buildings. She has exhibited both nationally and internationally and her work is in the homes of collectors throughout Canada, the U.S. and Europe. Tanis began her career by apprenticing with a carver and stone sculptor before studying at the University of Victoria and then ceramics at the Kootenay School of Arts. She was then awarded the International Residency in Vallauris, France, through a Canada-wide selection, where Picasso also studied ceramics. She is drawn to introduce the concepts of stillness, simplicity and sensuality to contrast our often complex, time driven culture.
