Heather Braun is the Founder and Creative Director of Porchlight Press, an award-winning letterpress studio based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Drawn to paper, colour, and texture from an early age, she first studied Landscape Architecture at the University of Guelph before completing a degree in Communication Design at Emily Carr University. After several years working as a landscape architect, a gifted letterpress machine sparked the realization that many of her passions—craft, design, and entrepreneurship—could come together in letterpress. She founded Porchlight Press over 12 years ago and has since grown it into a bustling studio filled with a beautiful collection of antique presses, wood, and metal type.
Today, Porchlight Press produces both custom commercial projects and a beloved line of stationery, while proudly sharing their passion with the community by opening their doors for student workshops, tours, and educational experiences. Inspired by nature, everyday observations, and long-standing ideas waiting to come to life, Heather and her team develop the concepts for each piece, blending beauty, playfulness, and the tactile richness of letterpress. With a small retail shop at the front of the East Vancouver studio, Porchlight Press feels part print studio, part museum—an inspiring space dedicated to craftsmanship, creativity, and the joy of keeping this historic art form alive.
