Eri Ishii
Eri Ishii was born in Japan and now lives in Vancouver working mostly in oil painting. Her work stems from her love of oil paint, as its buttery texture and depth of colours provide an ideal medium to explore the visual language of painting. She has studied at Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, Vancouver Life Drawing Society, and under the guidance of her late mentor, Norman Yates. She also holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from University of British Columbia.
Eri has exhibited her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Canada and internationally including Holter Museum of Art in USA, Halde Galerie in Switzerland and Taiwan National Art Education Museum in Taiwan. Her other achievements include being long listed for Jackson Painting Competition in UK, completing a mural as a lead artist for Seksik Childcare Learning and Education Centre in Vancouver, and collaborating on a film project "Lola's Fourth Life" which was premiered in Vancouver, Canada and Sydney, Australia.
Media coverage of her work includes an interview with Sheryl Mackay on North by Northwest on CBC Radio One, articles featuring her work on the Vancouver Sun, the Globe & Mail, and Vision Magazine in China. Eri is currently represented by Ian Tan Gallery in Vancouver.
