My practice is rooted in oil painting, where I explore memory, identity, and psychological space. The medium allows me to engage deeply with color, texture, and time—elements that echo throughout my broader body of work. In addition to painting, I work across collage, mural, and woodcut printmaking. Each of these mediums offers a distinct way to fragment, reconstruct, and reimagine images and narratives. Whether carving a block of wood or designing a large scale mural, I’m drawn to the physical and temporal aspects of making—how layers accumulate to unfold stories.   Eri Ishii was born in Japan and now lives in Vancouver working mostly in oil painting.  She has exhibited her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Canada and internationally including Holter Museum of Art in USA, Halde Galerie in Switzerland and Taiwan National Art Education Museum in Taiwan. Her other achievements include being long listed for Jackson Painting Competition in UK, completing a mural as a lead artist for Seksik Childcare Learning and Education Centre in Vancouver, and collaborating on a film project "Lola's Fourth Life" which was premiered in Vancouver, Canada and Sydney, Australia.  Media coverage of her work includes an interview with Gloria Macarenko on CBC TV,  Sheryl Mackay on North by Northwest on CBC Radio One, articles featuring her work on the Vancouver Sun, the Globe & Mail, and Vision Magazine in China. Eri is currently represented by Ian Tan Gallery in Vancouver.
