von Sacken, Kelsey

About the artist
Kelsey von Sacken is a Vancouver based artist currently living in Castlegar B.C. Her intuitive use of colour, natural elements, and a distinct impressionist style define her works. Her artworks are heavily introspective and aim to evoke a simple concept, breaking it down, and bringing focus and attention to what may easily be overlooked. Despite not having any formal training she has excelled in her experimentation with oil paints and continues to expand and define her own visual language. In the summer of 2018, she headlined an art show in Vancouver, titled "Mono no Aware: The bittersweet transience of life" with Grace Fournier. This was her first public exhibition and sparked her desire to pursue fine art as a career.

"Artists are the people driven by the tension between the desire to communicate and the desire to hide." - D.W. Winnicott
