About the artistThrough painting, sculpture, and drawing Jasmine Wallace’s work is inspired by a sense of place, material exploration and the built environment. Interested in an awareness and understanding of the creation of space - real or imagined - her work awakens a sense of wonder about the built environment. Inspired by blueprints and 3D modeling, the artist evokes the sense of history and time that is evident in the drawing and re-drawing of a plan. Drawn to the idea of labor and its ability to show time, the artist allows the processes by which the work is made to show through. Wallace’s work is inextricably linked to a sense of place, specifically to Vancouver’s unique sensibility. She holds a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Design University and a MFA from the University of Minnesota.
I will be showcasing both paintings, ceramic plates and platters at this years Culture Crawl.
