About the artist
Designing furniture – doodling, sketching, imaging it over and over & keeping myself awake at night is a mindful process. Making furniture – lifting, measuring, cutting, assembling, (then repeat), is a mind and body exercise. When the end result turns out just right, it’s a joyous event; a mind, body and soul experience. The ultimate though, is when the client happily takes possession of the piece, and then the connection is complete. I love what I do. I am a furniture designer inspired by modern architecture and structure. Very much a minimalist at heart, I strive for that “quiet elegance” in all of my designs. Working primarily with engineered lumber, such as plywood and Timberstrand, plus aluminum and glass, I explore and celebrate the inherent beauty of these prosaic materials. Design purity, honesty of structure, and proportional harmony are the guiding principles of my work. In my furniture, every aspect has a function, while nothing is a mere decoration.
